My love for photographing the underwater world began in the Philippines when my friend Chelsea taught me how to free dive. I quickly became fascinated with exploring the depths and capturing the unique encounters you run into below the surface.
These photos were taken in French Polynesia, East Borneo, and the Egyptian Red Sea.
The striking red Wadi Rum desert in Jordan has been used as a set for films such as the Martian, Indiana Jones, Prometheus, Transformers, and many more. It’s like exploring Mars. We drove an old Toyota Landcruiser through the expansive landscape and spent a week discovering all this place had to offer.
The Rocky Mountains never fail to amaze me. I’ve had the opportunity to hike through these stunning peaks a few times this year. It’s hard to capture their true size and beauty. Nothing can give you the same feeling as looking at Mt. Assiniboine from the neighbouring mountain, or watching the perfectly still reflection of Moraine Lake at sunrise. I think its truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Growing up in BC has allowed me to see my home in the best conditions possible. During the 2020 pandemic, I was given more time at home, allowing me to explore new places that I hadn’t given much thought to before. It’s easy to take your home for granted, but this year has given me the chance to appreciate it fully.
After my first visit to Turkey in 2018, I’ve been back 4 more times. This country quickly became one of my favourite travel destinations in the world. From the striking landscapes to the rich culture, the kindness of the people to the delicious food, Turkey has it all. In 2019 I drove from Istanbul to Antalya, and up the Turquoise Coast before flying to Kayseri. In Kayseri I went with a Turkish farmer to see the famous wild horses, then I drove to Cappadocia and spent a week in hot air balloons. Turkey is truly a hidden gem.
I first went to Peru in 2018 for 2 weeks of trekking through the Andes. I loved it so much that I returned a year later- more equipped and ready for the Andes. I spent a month trekking around Ausangate, Rainbow Valley, the Inca Trail, Ancascocha, and finally ending up at Machu Picchu.
Photos from my home city of Vancouver, Canada.
